 STUDENT PREPARATION CHECKLIST 

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

  • Passport with at least six months validity.

  • Visa (if required).

  • International travel insurance.

  • European Health Insurance Card

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Research health recommendations and required vaccinations for the destination.

  • Pack essential medications and prescriptions.

  • Research local healthcare facilities and emergency numbers.

ACCOMODATION

  • Confirm accommodation details with contact information.

  • Check if any amenities or essentials are provided.

  • Confirm check in instructions

​

COMMUNICATION

  • Activate international roaming or purchase a local SIM card.

  •  Install necessary translation apps or language learning tools.

​

FINANCES

  • Inform your bank about international travel to avoid issues with yourcards.

  • Research currency exchange rates and carry some local currency

  • Malta uses EURO currency.

  • Shops accepts all major cards like VISA, MASTERCARD and REVOLUT.

CULTURAL AWARENESS

  • Research local customs, etiquette, and social norms.

  • Learn about the host country's traditions and values.

TRANSPORTATION

  • In Malta, public transport is free of charge. You need to apply for thetravelling card which you can then use for unlimited trips at all days andtimes of the week until your departure.

  • We suggest that you pre-book the card with Travoyage Malta so this will be ready to be given to you on your first day during the Welcome Meeting. (Please note it takes at least 2 weeks for your card to be delivered)

  • Familiarize yourself with local transportation options and routes.

  • Download relevant transportation apps for ease of navigation.

WORKPLACE INFORMATION (ready carefully your internship programme before your arrival) :

  • For any specific guidelines.

  • Search the address, working hours, and dress code.

  • Confirm starting time as found in your internship programme

  • Ensure you bring your laptop with you

EMERGENCY CONTACTS

  • Save local emergency numbers and the nearest embassy/consulate contact.

  • You will be given a number to call 24/7. This will be written on your internship programme.

  • You will also be able to contact Travoyage Malta via Whatsapp chat or via e-mail

TECHNOLOGY AND ELECTRONICS

  • Check voltage requirements and bring necessary ad
    aptors.

  • Backup important documents and data on cloud storage.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Research places of interest and cultural events to explore during free time.

  • In your welcome envelope you will receive a list of cultural activities you can book with Travoyage Malta.

NETWORKING AND SOCIALISING

  • Join local groups or online communities to connect with fellow interns.

  • Be cautious with personal belongings and stay aware of your

surroundings.

  • Malta’s language is Maltese however, 90% of the population speaks

       English too.

  • Keep in touch with your internship coordinator assigned to you by Travoyage Malta.

  • Record and share your experience.
